Does that mean all is lost?
If you read the title, you know it’s not and that you can very much still take and pass the NCLEX despite what you made on the HESI exam.

Can You Fail the HESI Exam and Still Pass the NCLEX?
It’s possible to fail the HESI exam but still pass the NCLEX. Exit exams like these are just trying to give you a clue about how well you’ll do on the NCLEX. They’re not perfect, so while how you do on the HESI might be a good indicator of NCLEX success, it’s not an absolute indicator.

Why Is it You Can Fail The HESI and Still Pass the NCLEX?
There are a couple of reasons for this, but the big one is that I think those exams are written harder than the actual NCLEX. At least, that was my feelings after taking the ATI predictor exam.
Note:
The ATI Predictor is the ATI Testings version of the HESI exit exam.
I think the rationale would be if you can pass a harder predictor exam. Passing the real thing would probably be easier.
Which I would agree with it.
Also, I don’t have data to back this up, but I would venture to say that many people fail the HESI but still end up passing the NCLEX.
You know what, that’s okay.
I don’t think it’s anything necessarily wrong with the HESI exit exam or any other exit exam.
Those exams are written to indicate how well you’ll be prepared for the NCLEX, but they’re not perfect.
Of course, some are better than others.
But when it comes to predicting success, I don’t think that’s what’s important for these exams.
What’s Important When You’re Taking NCLEX Exit Exams
What I think is important is the information those exams give you about what topics you need to study more.
You can then tailor your studying to what you need to pass the ACTUAL licensure exam.
