Is UWorld Harder Than the NCLEX?
Most students will find the questions on the UWorld test bank are as hard or harder than the questions on the NCLEX. This is a good thing because it means students studying with UWorld know if they do well in UWorld Nursing, there’s a good chance they’ll do well on the actual NCLEX.

What Nursing Students Think of UWorld’s Practice Questions
UWorld did an extensive survey comprising over 10,000 students who had used their test prep.
The results have many interesting things, but you’re probably more interested in the following.
UWorld found that about 90% of users who took the NCLEX report that the Questions on UWorld were either at the same difficulty level as the NCLEX or harder.

Why Is This Important?
This is important for various reasons, but the big one is that students studying questions that are harder than the NCLEX improves their chances of passing the exam.
Think about it this way if you bought a test prep and based your entire studying on those practice questions and practice tests, how prepared would you be if the material was so much easier than the actual exam?
You wouldn’t be as prepared.
The harsh truth is that test prep companies want to challenge you because they want you to pass. You passing means you’ll
- Recommend them to friends and family
- Recommend them to other students
- Give them positive reviews
- Not ask for a refund (especially if they have a “guarrantee”)
For all those reasons, these companies want you to be successful.
One of the best ways to do that is to make sure their programs are very challenging because that will push you to study harder and be over-prepared for the NCLEX.
Passing Score Differences
Lastly, something else to keep in mind is that the way test preps score exams and questions are not really the same way the NCLEX is scored.

That’s why for preparing for the NCLEX, I typically recommend getting a well-known NCLEX prep course such as UWorld and doing a bunch of practice questions, and focusing on the rationales.
